Day 1 at Furby's Cove
What a magnificent day! It was totally full of sunshine, bright blue skies, and really comfortable temperatures in the low 20s.
We started off trying to make breakfast, only to discover that Rita has this cool space-age stove that is all electronic-button-controlled and impossible for anyone of normal intelligence to figure out, so breakfast was a kielbossa sandwich. Thanks to the modern convenience of texting we got some answers from Arnie and we are able to now have a hot supper (cod, of course).
After brekkie we decided to go for the morning walk, even without the presence of our doggie to motivate us. From the house to the highway is about a mile of gravel road including some really, really, really huge and really, really, really steep hills. When we finally reached the highway we deliberated whether to simply flop down for a spell, or just puff and pant for a while before turning around to do the return trip. (For all you Fitbit types, this is a 3,900-step climbing adventure, which also gave us 24 flights of stairs)
Upon getting back to the house, we finally managed to flop for a while, and then after a quick lunch, decided to 'do the town'. In this town of about 25 houses or trailers, this totals about a 15-minute walk (about 1,100 steps). Along the way we heard some snorting sounds a few times, and looked out over the water to see a whale spouting. We saw his back surfacing for a few seconds. Very cool! By the way, it seems that the wild raspberries are almost ripe. Since we both "love" raspberries, we will keep watch over the next few days!!
Then it was time for a rest with a good book. And then another walk to the highway and a flop with a good book (Clive Cussler for me)
That took us to suppertime and finally a hot meal! :-))) Today it was fish of course (some of Arnie's cod!, since he was good enough to leave a freezer full of it) and with any luck will be the same again tomorrow! There's something to be said for living by the ocean!
As far as jet-lag days go, this was a great one! We had a quick visit from Brenda ( Rita's sister in law) who mentioned that with good weather and a bit of luck, Wallace may take us for a scenic boat ride tomorrow ...stay tuned!
